Just wondered whether anyone was using tuxonice on lucid, and if so
what kernel & sources you had gone with, and/or any issues you had run
into. Installing a new system tonight, I hope.

FWIW, I'm using the HEAD of the 2.6.33 GIT tree (currently at .1), and
I can't imagine that Lucid's got anything newer, so if you like to build
your own kernels it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm planning on doing a Lucid tree. They usually keep rebasing the tree
at this stage in the development process, so I haven't put a high
priority on it yet.

In the old days I didn't really like to build from vanilla kernels
because ubuntu would cherrypick a fair number of out-of-tree modules
and include them in the kernel package; having the vanilla would
sometimes be a bit of a chore. Not sure if that's true anymore, what
with the new dkms build system. If anyone knows much about that I'd
be glad to hear of it.. anyway looks like I won't have time to do the
install tonight, so I have some time to mull it over for now.

I guess also I could just live without tuxonice for a month or so,
till the lucid kernel stabilies, and then run nigel's ppa packages.
But actually I'd be interested to hear opinions as to whether there
are still substantial disadvantages to running a non-ubuntu kernel.

Thanks as always,
matt
